Pittsburgh, it's kind of a big dill
Hello there friends, long time, no see! I have taken, what you might call, a hiatus of sorts. From moving, to starting a new job, to adjusting to city life, I have been pretty busy with adulting duties. No worries though, I have some pretty fun fashion inspired posts up my sleeve that will hopefully surface in the blog this fall. But for now, I will grace you with my spontaneous adventure to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - the land of 446 bridges.
Last weekend I flew an hour and 30 minutes to the industrial mecca of 90 unique neighborhoods, the first stop being Lawrenceville, PA. A cute area filled with vibrant row houses and a plethora of trendy restaurants and boutiques to cure your hipster needs. That is where my best friends moved with their little pup named Emmy. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I am obsessed with the walkable streets and historic charm that oozes from every corner - it is a great little spot for young, proactive millennials to congregate. But, the real reason for this trip, Picklesburgh - an annual celebration of all things pickled. From lemonade to pickles on a stick, this pickle party is a multi-day event that brings together all pickle lovers to the Roberto Clemente Bridge in Downtown Pittsburgh to eat, drink and listen to live music. I for one, am a pickle snob. It is downright my favorite food since I was little - so this was a (salty) treat for an OG pickle connoisseur to attend. After my pickle coma, I sauntered over to the Andy Warhol museum, where I gaped at every pop art painting and photograph in sight. Pickles and art in one day, makes anna a very happy girl.
my last day in Pittsburgh, we took a little drive over to the town of Sewickley, PA to eat at Mediterra, an artisan bakery that prepares an epic avocado toast. WE also hit the Loveliest coffee shop down the road for a delicious honey Lavender latte. Sewickley is a quaint little town situated behind the rolling hills of southwestern pennsylvania—a town noted for great food and shopping and for a day of #treatingyourself. Because we were not full enough, we hopped over to the famous Peace Love and Little Donuts, where we ate a midday snack of delectable sweet treats in the industrial Strip district. To top this wonderful weekend off, my friend syd and I went to the Mattress Factory museum of contemporary art to check out the famous Kusama: Infinity Screening as well as other new exhibitions that are currently being featured. It was such a cool experience, plus I discovered one of my new favorite artists, CHRISTINA A. WEST.
Overall, it was the perfect quick trip that included friends, shopping, eating, drinking, and much more. I couldn’t be more blessed with such amazing lifelong friends that welcome me into their homes.
