Thelma & Louise
For the first time Last week i finally got around to watching the iconic chick flick, "thelma and Louise". to say i was inspired by their wild-spirit, 80's wardrobe, and undeniable loyalty would be an understatement. I have always had a love for witty, female empowerment movies and this is now one of my favorites. Their classic Levi 501 jeans, turquoise jewelry, and retro sunnies made the film all that more captivating for me. I have always had a restless spirit, a love for road trips and an obsession with western culture, so to intertwine all my loves was overwhelming and engaging. This movie spoke to me in more ways than one. The idea of being free from responsibilities, gender norms, and the weight of reality, truly made this film a form of escapism. Although "Thelma and Louise" is initially about their unexpected crime spree, a justified vendetta against men, and a tale of difficult pasts, they truly encompass the rebellious spitfire attitude we all wish we could sometimes have. It has substance and passion, without the usual vulnerability and catering to men. It is spontaneous and liberating, with visual elegance that drowns in both sorrow and hope. I was extremely inspired by the desolate landscapes, western motels and the idea of desertion for this photoshoot. I thought the dress had a feminine southern-charm aspect to its silhouette that played well with the faded colors of historic buildings. I truly love to capture the look of isolation and neglect with the beauty of fashion.
