The Big Apple part II

Hello again, Anna reporting for duty.  As I have stated in one of my previous blogs, I had the pleasure of living in New York City for a year and two summers.  With that being said, all the fun activities and travels I did throughout my time there are too monumental for only one blog post.  So I invite you, my audience, to sit back and relax while I struggle to find words to describe the next set of magical locations I had the honor of exploring.  I must add that I have been feeling pretty sentimental about the big city this past week.  New York Fashion Week is happening, and not saying I would be invited to these exclusive events, but a girl can dream.  I miss riding the subway next to a gorgeous giant with luscious hair, clear skin, and not an inch of body fat.  Oh, the joys of the fashion industry, how I miss you.  Moving on from my brief moment of delirium, lets begin our tour of more of my go-to museums, restaurants and landmarks I called home.

Part one, subsection A, paragraph 1 we start with the beloved Coney Island, Brooklyn.  A land of misfit toys, of-a-sort.  A better description would be a worn-down, amusement park with character, history and a famous rollercoaster, the Cyclone, that always seems to spark 'child-like' wonder.  There is a sort of American Horror Story aspect to this park, with it's famous mascot, 'The Face of Steeplechase' constantly watching your every move, but that's what makes it interesting.  Although you don't feel safe on half of the rides, it is completely worth it.  Whenever I go to Coney Island in the summer I feel as though I am part of a Sarah Dessen book.  I walk the boardwalk, buy a famous Nathan's hotdog, tan on the beach, and ride the ferris wheel, all while hoping I find a rugged, but clean-cut man to canoodle with. lol, but I have to say I always feel like a kid whenever I return to Coney Island.  I am happy, free and simply amused by the continuous street performers I gawk at, all while stuffing my face.

Part 2, subsection B, Paragraph one, we will now focus on a more important topic, food.  My best friend Sydney, from Sydney (Australia) has a knack for finding everything Australian whenever we travel together.  Luckily, like me, she loves food, decor and well...accents.  So that led us to Northern Territory, located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.  This lovely eatery, housed with a rustic interior and spectacular rooftop view, offers the Australian cuisine and an alcohol selection that any American, including me, would die for.  By the way, it's authentic.  I would tell you what I ordered, but as it's been a month or two, I can't remember exactly how to spell/repeat the Australian lingo that accompanied the menu.  But, it was freaking delicious and that's what really counts.

Part 3, subsection C, paragraph 1, we now move on to my love affair of museums.  Some would say it's an addiction, but I would say it's more of a hobby.  My goal in life is to attend every museum around the world.  So far all I have seen are all the museums in New York City, Chicago and some in Italy, sooo... it's going to take a minute or two, but I will get there.  That is a promise.  Now, let's focus on a museum I have actually been to, The Whitney Museum of American Art, is an institution that focuses on the art of the United States, showcasing a full range of twentieth-century and contemporary American art in it's brand-new facility located in the Meatpacking district.  It was the first museum dedicated to showcasing the work of living American artists.  It's modern, contemporary design and clean galleries allow all the art pieces to thrive in all of their glory.

Conclusion: I will now leave you with an image of me being being basic, holding a cup of my favorite coffee in NYC (also could be considered liquid crack).  This is a PSA, please love yourself and stop drinking gross bean water and treat yourself to a black and tan iced coffee from La Colombe.  You will not regret this.
