I am going to be blunt here, the 20's suck.  It's a time of instability, self-discovery and disappointment. You continually seek validation from your superiors and compare yourself by looking at other's success.  Sure, it's a time for traveling, partying, and experimentation, but man, that gets old fast.  For the past month I have been living with my very accommodating parents, searching for jobs in a fickle economy, but hey who's complaining... oh, wait, that would be me.  I am not mad about home cooked meals or free laundry, but after four years of freedom, I am beginning to feel smothered.  I know the only solution is to get a job and move out, but thanks to unrealistic job qualifications and an erratic job market, things are moving at a sluggish pace.  

How do I stay sane you ask? Well, let's thank healthy food, good friends and practical hobbies.  Luckily, I grew up in a major metropolitan city where there is constant entertainment and a hub for Millennials to congregate, aka bars.  By focusing on my blog, I have been able to explore more, rekindle relationships with old friends and eat aesthetically pleasing food.  I am also thankful for this 'small' amount of time off to build my portfolio and practice my photography skills.  This is not a blessing in disguise, but I do appreciate the time to focus on both my physical and mental health before leaping into a nine to five job.  It's important to allow yourself time to rejuvenate and relax before your entire life is planned out for you--that's a Millennial's view.

This past weekend I went to Soho House in the West Loop to shop, eat, and blab with my dear old friend Franny.  It was a much needed outing away from my usual ritual of breakfast, applications and afternoon walks.  I recommend taking the time out of your busy schedule to eat good food and have meaningful conversations with valued friends.  It's a great way to unwind.
