My January Obsessions
I am not the mastermind behind this trend, but I know I am not the only girl who obsesses over people, places and things. Clearly if you have Tik Tok you are constantly being influenced to buy this or that with every other video being a review or ‘get ready with me’. But my fixations last about a month unless I am gobsmacked by a product or honestly a person if that’s what it takes. So I wanted to use this platform and share my obsessions that have turned into rituals or I guess products that I highly recommend (this is not sponsored) Each month I am going to list 5 items that are here to stay. Just to give this list some perspective, I am broke, slightly overweight from a WII sports perspective, and have sensitive skin. I also have a shitty gut and am allergic to wool and linen. So do with that what you will, but I am also pretty good at styling clothes, seeking trends and interior design, so I hope that balances out the crummy stuff.
I am guilty of trying thousands of skincare brands that are expensive because If they say they cure Rosacea or Eczema, I believe them. But one blustery day I decided to pop into Ulta where I discovered BYOMA milky toner, Doré skincare, and Ultra Repair cream by First Aid Beauty. The Holy Grail for sensitive and dry skin. You’re welcome in advance.
It might sound cheesy, but bring that tiny journal with you everywhere. You will feel like Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell because it’s old school and artsy to randomly start jotting down thoughts in a local coffee shop. I am prescribing you the Rollbahn notebook. The perfect size and thickness to carry around. Plus it is chic and will give you an edge.
Three words, Buffy Eucalyptus sheets. For the love of Dolly Parton, invest in some quality sheets. On average you sleep 229,261 hours in your lifetime and it shouldn’t be on some crusty sheets from college. They are soft, cooling and come in colors that Costco doesn’t sell.
The next thing I am going to say is about a self help book. I will hold for the eye-roll and the snort, but I swear as someone who never listens, this book made me bring out the Highlighters. Atomic Habits by James Clear gave me perspective on useless and destructive habits that I needed to change. I now make my bed every morning, floss my teeth and try to wash dishes after each use. I am not perfect, but this book was truly helpful.
The Gap. Idk what they have been putting in their stores, but I have been on the Gap express for the last couple of months. They are quality and trendy without breaking the bank. I am talking about terry trousers, rugby sweaters, cotton knits and barrel leg jeans people. I have been strutting the streets in comfort and I thank my 90s mom for introducing me to quality brand when catalogs were our Instagram.
